Epoxy Floor Coating: Much More Than Floor Paint
Most basement or concrete floors are simple, made from average-quality concrete flooring. Over time, the floors deteriorate due to chemicals, grease, oil, and dirt, turning your concrete into an ugly eyesore.
Whether for your home garage or basement, or commercial kitchens, health care clinics, or manufacturing floors, you need a protective coating that will restore the functionality and beauty of your concrete flooring.
At Your1DayFloor.com, our Epoxy Floor Coating contractors transform bare concrete floors to give you high stain-resistance, durability, and years of usage. Our services are available to homes and businesses through the Southwest Ohio, East Indiana, and Northern Kentucky areas.
Epoxy floors and Polyurea flake floors are not the same thing. Be sure to reach out to us so we can help you make the right decision.
Why Coat Your Concrete Floor?
Concrete floors are porous, which means they absorb grease, moisture, rust, and oil, causing your flooring to decay over time. Concrete floors are also challenging to clean. When left unprotected, they are exposed to numerous damaging elements, causing your floor to become unsightly and unhygienic. One way to prevent this from happening is to coat the concrete with a metallic epoxy coating.
Here are three reasons why this is a good idea:
- Chemical resistance: Concrete floors are exposed to many acids and chemicals, which may cause the flooring to corrode. Our metallic epoxy coating is resistant to certain chemicals and provides much better protection for your residential or commercial floors.
- Durability: Metallic Epoxy Floor Coating is designed to be extra durable as the floors they are applied on are subject to heavy vehicle or foot traffic.
- Aesthetics: Flooring aesthetics plays a significant role in the look and feel of your property. Metallic floor coating looks nice and also hides dirt and stains on the surface. It is also easy to clean and comes in different designs.
At Your1DayFloor.com, we pride ourselves on our quality services, market experience, and assisting clients with the best products. We have open communication to ensure you get the product you need for your residential or commercial flooring.

Because of the different requirements of every project and the wide variety of concrete floor coatings, we offer free estimates and can provide you with an exact cost for the particular floor coating you desire at the time of the estimate.
What is the life expectancy of your concrete floor coatings?
Our concrete floor coating systems are specifically formulated to be strong and durable. This means that they are permanent. Once we apply our floor coatings, we are 100% sure they will adhere to the substrate. The life expectancy of our concrete floor coatings is the same as the substrate it is applied to.
Do I have to reseal my concrete floor coating?
Your concrete floor coating will last the life of the properly installed floor coating when following our cleaning and maintenance specifications. As with anything if it is not properly cared for and maintained it will not last as long as anticipated. We have a proprietary cleaner that will ease the cleaning of hard to remove stains from rubber tire marks to rust stains. It will enhance the beauty and maintain your warranty and extend the life of your topcoat.
How long does it take to apply your concrete floor coatings?
It takes anywhere from 6-10 hours to complete a concrete floor coating project depending on its size. Projects 1,500 square feet or less can usually be completed in 1 day with larger projects taking 2 days. We strive to start and finish all projects in 1 day. We will not leave a project unfinished. The only delay we usually encounter is the rare occasion of rain.
Will my new concrete floor coating turn yellow?
NO, this is (1) of the advantages of a Polyurea/Polyspartic floor coating. Unlike epoxies, Polyureas are UV stable. In fact, our products have a lifetime guarantee not to fade.
How long do I need to stay off my concrete floor coating after it is installed?
We recommend waiting 4-6 hours before walking on a new concrete floor coating, 12 hours for medium weight objects such as boxes or light patio furniture, and 24 hours before anything heavy (i.e., heavy furniture, cars, tool boxes, etc.) is moved back onto the area that was coated.
How do I care for my concrete floor coating?
Your concrete floor coating can be cleaned with a broom, garden hose, mop, or squeegee. We have a proprietary cleaner that will ease the cleaning of hard to remove stains from rubber tire marks to rust stains. It will enhance the beauty and maintain your warranty and extend the life of your top coat.
You can use any non-abrasive ammonia-based cleaner such as Simple Green, CLR, or ZEP Citrus Degreaser. For more stubborn problem areas such as road tar, you can use Goof Off 2.
Will my coating get stained from oil?
Our sealers repel oil and oil is easily wiped off.
What are Polyaspartic Concrete Coatings?
From a technical perspective, the term “Polyaspartic” refers to an “Aliphatic Polyurea”. Today the general public is somewhat familiar with Polyurea coatings, primarily from their uses in such applications as spray down truck bed liners and tank coatings.
Who invented Polyaspartic Coatings?
Polyaspartic coatings were introduced in the early 1990s by one of the world’s leading chemical companies, Bayer Material Science. This new technology was first employed as a protective steel coating, offering corrosion prevention for bridges and other harsh environment applications. Eventually the material was modified for additional types of applications, including resinous floor concrete coatings.
What types of floor coating systems are available with polyaspartics?
One of the primary benefits to Polyaspartic coatings is the material’s versatility. Standard solid color industrial floor coatings, 100% Coverage Flake and Quartz flooring systems are commonplace with Polyaspartic coatings. Recently, new decorative concrete floor coating applications, such as dye and seal and metallic floor coating systems have been developed with both Polyaspartic and Epoxy coating technology.
Can Polyaspartic Floor Coatings be used outside?
Yes, most Polyaspartic coatings systems are UV stable and are suitable for exterior applications.
What types of environments can Polyaspartic Floor Coatings be used?
Generally, in any type of environment where a resinous floor coating is called for, a Polyaspartic floor coating system may be used. This includes heavy traffic industrial and commercial flooring as well as residential garage floors, basements, porches, patios, and pool deck concrete coatings.
How are Polyaspartic Floor Coatings applied?
Polyaspartic floor coatings may be applied with a squeegee or 18” long 3/8” nap roller. Common methods include the Dip and Roll Method as well as the Ribbon and Roll method.
Can I apply Polyaspartic Floor Coatings in cold temperatures?
Yes, depending on the formulation, Polyaspartics may be applied within extremely low temperatures down to -40º Fahrenheit.
How long do Polyaspartic Floor Coatings take to dry?
Polyaspartic floor coatings are designed to exhibit rapid curing capabilities and may dry in a matter of hours or less. Often these concrete coating systems provide for a next-day return to service.
We recommend waiting 4-6 hours before walking on a new coating, 12 hours for medium weight objects such as boxes or light patio furniture, and 24 hours before anything heavy (i.e., heavy furniture, cars, toolboxes, etc.) is moved back onto the area that was coated.
Who can install Polyaspartic Floor Coatings?
Polyaspartic and epoxy concrete floor coatings systems are high-performance materials that should only be installed by a certified coatings contractor. We are the certified firm serving Dayton, Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky, and Richmond, Indiana.
Are Polyaspartic Floor Coatings as durable as Epoxy Floor Coatings?
Yes, and then some. Based on empirical testing data, Polyaspartic concrete floor coatings offer abrasion resistant capabilities that far exceed those of typical epoxy systems.
Can I use Polyaspartic Floor Coating over an Epoxy Floor Coating?
Yes, Polyaspartic floor coatings exhibit superior inter-coat adhesion vs. epoxy floor coatings. For old epoxy floor coatings that are still well adhered to the substrate, an installer can apply a new Polyaspartic top-coat over that area. The process for doing so includes first mechanically profiling the existing epoxy floor by sanding it. Following that, excess dust is vacuumed and the area is wiped with an appropriate solvent or adhesion promotor to clean the surface. The area is then properly prepared for a fresh Polyaspartic top-coat.
