Nature and history

Taylorsville MetroPark is located on the Great Miami River. This park offers scenic forestland, historical ruins, and facilities for hiking, biking, fishing, and camping. It also features a lake and a river. There are 13 miles of trails through the park. Some of the highlights include an abandoned town of Tadmor and the remnants of the Miami-Erie Canal. The park also contains large rock outcrops and ravines.

The Great Miami River Trail stretches from the north to the south of the park. The trail passes the site of Tadmor and is a great way to see the remnants of the Miami-Erie canal. Another feature of this park is the observation deck that sits above a native meadow.

Among the other attractions at the park is a major rock fall. The rocks are massive and provide some of the most stunning scenery in Western Ohio. Also, the area is home to many pine forests and ravines.

Trails

If you are looking for some serious outdoor fun, you may want to consider a hike at Taylorsville MetroPark. This is one of the best metroparks in Dayton, Ohio, and has a variety of trails to choose from. There are also several amenities to keep you happy, such as restrooms and camping facilities.

The Great Miami River Trail is a great way to get out and enjoy the great outdoors. This is a 10-mile loop that bisects Taylorsville MetroPark from north to south. You’ll get to enjoy the beautiful scenery of the streamside forests and numerous creeks along the way. It’s also a perfect location to paddle.

River recreation

If you’re a fan of river recreation, you’ll want to visit Taylorsville MetroPark. Located on the Great Miami River, the park features several trails and a variety of amenities. Whether you’re looking for a relaxing walk or a fun family picnic, you’ll find it here.

For a little history, you can explore the remnants of the Miami-Erie Canal, which was a hand-dug, water-filled bridge that connected the Ohio River in Cincinnati with Lake Erie in Toledo. The canal opened the state to commerce, and was completed in 1845.

You’ll also want to check out the ice skating rink at Taylorsville MetroPark. During the winter, the area is a popular spot for spotting birds and waterfowl. A variety of ADA-accessible shelters and restrooms are available. There is a trail leading to a lake near Dayton, Ohio, which is worth checking out.

Canoeing/kayaking

If you love canoeing and kayaking, you have come to the right place. Taylorsville MetroPark is a 1,300-acre park located in Vandalia, Ohio. The park has a variety of trails, picnic areas, historic ruins, and wildlife viewing zones. It also offers access to the Great Miami River.

With nearly 13 miles of trails, the park is perfect for an afternoon of hiking, biking, or paddling. Some of the park’s trails include a 4-5 mile hiking loop, an unpaved trail near the top of the dam, and a trail that offers wildlife viewing. You may even get to see an eagle, woodpecker, or heron.

The park offers access to the best bike-trail system in the country. You can use the trail to go from the park to the former town of Tadmor, where you can explore the foundation stones of the old mill. There are three shelters and a well-maintained picnic area.

Open year-round

Located on the Great Miami River, the Taylorsville MetroPark is a well-rounded mixture of nature and history. It is the perfect place to hike, bike, fish, sledding and more. During the cold winter months, the park offers a sledding hill and an ice skating rink. The Great Miami River Trail also bisects the park from south to north, giving hikers access to the former town of Tadmor.

There are plenty of other MetroParks in Montgomery County, OH. Some of them, such as Deeds Point to Island MetroPark, offer an ice fishing experience as well as a number of bird watching trails. Also, the city of Dayton is home to Carillon Historical Park, where you can see an old mill and a building dedicated to the 1913 flood.
